Congress? You mean like the House of Representatives? Seriously? What the **** are they doing investigating Snyder? I'm pretty sure the NFL Players Union audits the teams and league finances as part of the collective bargaining agreement. That seems like a pretty big item to slip by them.

That was my initial thought too. Absolutely not excusing misconduct by Snyder, but you would think someone would notice that the payments were lower than usual.

does Congress get to destroy the investigation material after they are done and say nothing to see here like the NFL does - only after they leak something damaging about someone they don't like?

Didn't Congress already do that in this case, and numerous others?

You can do a lot of things and get away with it as a rich white guy. Actually, you can do pretty much anything except for steal from other rich white guys. This isn't going to end well for Snyder.

Congress says Washington Commanders appear to have broken financial laws, owe money to visiting teams, season-ticket holders

The U.S. House Oversight Committee sent a letter to the Federal Trade Commission saying it found evidence the NFL's Washington Commanders engaged in unlawful financial conduct.

In the letter obtained by The Associated Press, the committee said the team withheld ticket revenue from visiting teams and refundable ticket deposits from season-ticket holders.

The committee said emails, documents and statements made by former employees indicate team executives and owner Dan Snyder engaged in "a troubling, long-running, and potentially unlawful pattern of financial conduct."

The committee is sharing documents with the FTC while requesting the commission take any action necessary to make sure the money is returned to its rightful owners.

@LionJim - Somewhat related, have you heard that the Lerner's are looking to sell the Nats? Chatter on the Fan this morning had some folks suggesting Snyder buy them .

Oh, and went to the Caps game on Sunday (I haven't been to a hockey game since I saw the Caps/Pens about a dozen years ago) and sat in the Ultra Section; had an awesome time especially with the win. Looking to go to some playoff games I think.... Oh - and the blue unis were sweet.

Hardly the only lying, cheating scumbag running a professional sports organization

https://www.theatlantic.com/enterta...am-in-professional-sports-is-in-miami/273644/

Taxpayers need to stop paying for stadiums. Period.

The sweetest part of the deal for Loria was that the team alone would get any revenue from ticket and suite sales, advertising, concessions, and any future naming rights. Another hidden financial treasure that will become apparent if Loria chooses to sell the Marlins in the near future: The very existence of a luxurious new stadium, even if it's owned by the county and not the team, can double and even triple the sale value of a major-league franchise.

By the way, the taxpayers of Miami-Dade County never got a chance to vote on the deal, which will, over the next couple of generations, cost them an estimated $2.4 billion in lost revenues and interest.

No way mlb allows Snyder to buy them. Chatter was Bezos or owners of the Caps.
Yes, I saw the Post headline about the potential sale of the Nationals but did not read the story. I’d have to agree that the possibility of Snyder ending up with the team seems far-fetched. I’d have zero problem with Bezos owning the team and doubt MLB would either.

That might make it hard for Amazon to bid on broadcast rights.
