Your first car: what music were you playing when you got it?

85 Chevy, but got the car in 91. Tape deck and awful speakers, but if you kept the bass a couple clicks lower than Max, it would suffice.

Kept three tapes under the seat. Mixed in some 94.5 and WKQQ (had to leave the CDs at home)

A red & black big block 1971 Plymouth Cuda that was purchased in 1976 for $1800. Playing on the fabulous Channel Master 8 track stereo "system", you would have found lots of Allman Brothers, ZZ Top, Black Sabbath, Montrose, Blue Oyster Cult, and Zeppelin.

The car was flawless, and I later sold it to my cousin's husband for $1200 and a 69 Super Bee he was restoring. I turned around and sold the Super Bee for $1000, then about 4 years later he got laid off and asked me if I'd like to buy it back for $4500. Just married at the time, I just didn't have the money. About 10 years after that, I took my daughter to Dollywood. As we were waking through the parking lot, I saw a Cuda exactly like it, and we walked over to check it out, and it was my old Cuda. We saw them inside the park, and he said that he had managed to hang on to it. As far as I know, he still has it and it's hard to say what that car is worth now. Woulda, shoulda, coulda....:(

And a couple of rap mix tapes that a teammate let me copy. They were from his older cousin who was a DJ in NYC. They were copies copied from a copy. Sound quality was horrible. Didn't stop me from playing the shite out of them.

Also listened to Double Q & 94.5 from Lextown and QMF & DJX from Metro

1988 Camry bought in 1997. I started with AM/FM radio but upgraded to 2 10-inch Pioneer subs and a 500W amp, which later was upgraded to 4 JL Audio 12s and a 1500W amp. (Part time job + no bills = disposable income)

I liked a mix of the current rap and the rock/metal from slightly before that. Still listen to this stuff today.

That Master P album was solid. I can only imagine "We Riders" with 4 12's in the trunk...

53 Buick. I had hitchhiked from Middlesboro to Fort Wayne, IN and found a job at International Harvester. Had to find some wheels fast for getting to work. Bought this beauty for $85. Had a hole in the floor as big as a basketball and a straight pipe with no muffler. Surprisingly this was what I was driving when I met my wife who was a carhop. Dated her for nearly a year driving this chick magnet vehicle. Lordy, Lordy, she must have loved me. Still together 55 years later. It did the job for about a year till I could move up. Hank Williams would have been my music.

1966 Ford Mustang. My dad bought it for me while we were in Fayetteville NC in 1984-85. I was a junior in high school. I bought a radio cassette player that fit the same space as the original AM radio. Was rocking to all things from the Eighties. The Cars, Prince, Twisted Sister, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Queen, Talking Heads, Killing Joke, etc.

I don't believe there is such a thing as a 1981 Chevy Cavalier.
Well, wasn't the Cadillac Cimarron a re-badged Cavalier, and my aunt had a 1982 model Cimarron...

And my mom had a 1982 4-door Mercury Cougar. A true rare bird of a car and I totaled it.

EDIT: Nope, it was the Celebrity, not the Cavalier. Sorry.

54 Chrysler New Yorker. Car was 13 years old when I started driving it. Listened to 60's music during the day and WLS Chicago at night. Was there anywhere that station couldn't be heard at night?

Yeah man nothing screams wannabe gangster like Limp Bizkit and Nelly.

Also I don't know if you know this but 16 year olds generally listen to terrible music.
Shocking development. Some of Nelly's stuff still bangs, though.
