I just listened to the "Neal Brown Show", in which they discuss youth. I knew we are a young team, but I didnt know we are the youngest team in the Big12. To be as competitive as we have been, to be just a few absolutely boneheaded mistakes away from being 8-2 or maybe 7-3, while also being THE YOUNGEST TEAM in the Big12, shows the upside of the talent on this team once we give them time to mature & develop.
WVU has always been a developmental program that heavily relies on upperclassmen leadership, execution, & consistency, to still be this competitive and to be that young, speaks to the trajectory of this team in the coming years.
Ive said this a few times, but if Doege doesnt make those boneheaded mistakes, we would not be discussing "NB should be showing improvement in year 3".... The sentiment would be completely different, but because of 4-5 brutally times mistakes many in this forum believe the ground should shake everything loose in Morgantown.
We need to understand the importance of experience, esp the difference 2-3 years make in player execution & production even for the most talented players. I mean, look at Tavon Austin.... His Fresh & Soph years were ok, but he really didnt begin to shine until his Junior & Senior years.. Some of that was the staff & schemes, but I can go down the list of every memorable Mountaineer and show you the significance in production between a players Fresh & Soph years, and their Jun & Senior years... Its typically night & day differences.
So for us to be this competitive while our team is a Fresh or Soph, imagine how much better we will be as Juniors & Seniors, and with a more versatile & consistent QB.
Going from being young to being experienced, is a painfully slow process, that will have many tough losses, but those types of losses are a sign of growth. We just have to be patient and allow this team to mature & develop, and if NB can continue to recruit well and hang on to those who do sign, as this team matures & gains experience while improving the overall talent & depth via recruiting, if this staff utilizes that talent & experience at a similar level as they did at Troy, we will be where we want to be as a program in a couple years.
Look at all the variables at play, and not just some generic perspective of..."But, this is his 3rd year".... In time, we will see an accurate reflection of this staff's quality when they end a season where every player on that team is a NB recruit. Lets wait to form an opinion, so it can be an accurate one, so we can as a fanbase make the best decision possible for the program. Until then, continue to support in every way possible.
I would invite you to read another post of mine : "Creating a forum & website for NIL strategies"
If you have any ideas, feel free to share. I dont have the time to do it by myself, but I would gladly help, maybe a group of us could do it together...
