According to Matt Zenitz of On3, Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Drew Sanders has entered the transfer portal. Sanders, a former five-star recruit according to the On3 Consensus, will be one of the top players on the market.

Sanders saw his role increase and suddenly decrease during the middle of the season. When linebacker Christopher Allen went down with an injury, Sanders was called upon to step into the role. However, an injury set him back and allowed Dallas Turner to breakout. Now, Sanders will be looking for a place with increased playing time.

Coming out of Denton, TX, and Denton Ryan High School, Sanders was ranked the No. 25 overall prospect on the On3 Consensus. Within the state, only two players were ranked higher than him.

Sanders played in 11 games this season and started in three. He recorded 24 tackles and had a career-high of six on the road against the Florida Gators. The former five-star product had 2.5 tackles for a loss and got his lone sack of the year against New Mexico State.

Programs such as Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, and Texas were among the schools to recruit Sanders. He was a long time commit for the Sooners before Alabama was able to securing a late flip.

Alabama Crimson Tide QB enters the transfer portal

Alabama quarterback Paul Tyson has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3’s Matt Zenitz has learned.

Tyson confirmed the news in a Twitter post at 4:58 p.m., thanking Alabama coaches, fans and staff for the support. A native of Trussville, Alabama, next year will be Tyson’s fourth in college — however, after redshirting his freshman year in 2019, then receiving an extra year of eligibility for COVID-19, he will enter a new program with three years of eligibility remaining.

“I would like to start by thanking Coach Saban for giving me the opportunity to play for Alabama the past three years and to be a part of winning a national championship,” Tyson said on Twitter. “I feel so Blessed and will forever cherish the past three years! … With the COVID waiver, I will still have three years of eligibility, and I am excited to see what door God opens for me.”

Tyson is the great-grandson of legendary Alabama coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. The 6-foot-5, 228-pound quarterback was a four-star recruit via the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, making him the No. 22 quarterback in the 2019 class and the No. 13 recruit in the state of Alabama.
