Alabama offensive lineman Elijah Pritchett was arrested for speeding this past weekend, according to a report from Tide 100.9 FM. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Friday around the Strip near campus.

Officers at the University of Alabama Police Department observed Pritchett driving erratically in a black Dodge Charger in front of a store near the corner of University Boulevard and Campus Drive. When a trio of police attempted to approach the car on foot, Pritchett reportedly changed lanes and sped off.

Police wrote in their report that they could hear the sounds of tires squealing as the vehicle drove away.

Officers got back in their patrol car and began to search for the car. Eventually a sergeant spotted it “driving at a high rate of speed across the intersection of Frank Thomas Avenue and 6th Street.”

Prichett was pulled over at the Walk of Champions in front of Bryant-Denny Stadium. He was arrested and charged with “Exhibition of Speed,” a misdemeanor violation. He was briefly booked in Tuscaloosa County Jail and released on a $300 bond.

If convicted, Pritchett could face a maximum sentence of three months in jail and a fine up to $500. He could also be prohibited from driving in Alabama for six months.

This is not the first run in with the law for the third-year Crimson Tide player. He was also arrested in December on charges of knowingly transmitting an STD. The misdemeanor charge could ultimately be reduced or dismissed through the youthful offender program.

A redshirt sophomore, Elijah Pritchett was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2022, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 34th-ranked player nationally and the fourth-ranked offensive tackle in that class.

Prichett played all 13 games for Alabama in 2023 as it won the SEC Championship and advanced to the College Football Playoff. He entered his name in the transfer portal on Dec. 15 but would withdraw just one day later.

Pritchett played at left tackle this past season behind true freshman Kadyn Protctor. He’ll have the opportunity to compete for a starting job in 2024 if he manages to stay out of further trouble.
