Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has helped turn the Crimson Tide season as the program has won six straight games after losing to Texas in Week 2. But after their bye week, Milroe and Alabama will return to action the first weekend of November with one of its toughest matchups every season: LSU.

Milroe was on Read and React on the SEC Network this week and explained what it will take for the Crimson Tide to defeat the Tigers.

“It’s going to take a lot of preparation throughout the week,” Milroe said. “It’s going to take us coming together as a whole team, whether the offense, defense, special teams. All of our key elements of the game are going to have to factor into our performance. I think that’s — we have to acknowledge we’re playing a tough opponent. And then, getting together with the coaching staff, trying to grasp as much information from them. It’s going to be a good opponent and the good thing about it, is it’s at the crib. Looking forward to that game.”

Alabama and LSU have split their last four matchups dating back to 2019. But prior to that 2019 game, the Crimson Tide had won eight straight dating back to the 2012 BCS Championship.

Dating all the way back to 2007, which was Nick Saban‘s first year back in the SEC with Alabama, the Crimson Tide and Tigers have won all but three SEC West Division titles. Outside of those three seasons when Auburn won the division, the winner of the annual Alabama-LSU game won the division.

Milroe, who has not played against LSU in his career so far, is 99 of 153 passing the ball this year for 1,617 yards and 13 touchdowns with five interceptions.

While on with the SEC Network, Milroe also discussed how Saban has changed during this 2023 season and how its resulting in the team’s success.

“He’s instilled his confidence into us,” Milroe said. ”With all the team meetings he had, one-on-ones he had with players, he has great confidence in all of us. Also, what he does well is he gets everybody on the same page as far as his messages. And then motivating everybody to acknowledge that we have short-term goals and long-term goals we all want to accomplish here.

“I think he’s doing a great job and just how great coach is, he touches each of the players he has on the team.”
