Nate Oats provided a recovery update and timetable on two important Alabama players, guards Jahvon Quinerly and Nimari Burnett.

First, Quinerly was a consistent performer for Alabama in 2021-2022, but the season didn’t end the way the guard had hoped. In the Crimson Tide’s loss to Notre Dame in the 2022 NCAA Tournament on March 18, Quinerly suffered a left knee injury in the opening minutes of the game and has been rehabbing since.

Speaking with Charlie Potter of BamaOnline prior to the Regions Tradition Pro-Am from the Greystone Golf and Country Club in Birmingham on Wednesday, Oats gave some positive news regarding the Alabama star.

“We’re hoping by SEC play. If his recovery goes great, maybe sooner,” Oats revealed, via Potter. “But we’re not gonna try to rush him because we want him to have a healthy year when he’s able to play.”

On the other hand, Burnett came to Alabama after playing in 12 games with Texas Tech his freshman season. However, he missed the entire 2021-22 season after undergoing knee surgery. Crimson Tide faithful are itching to have him back on the court, and Oats delivered a promising update.

“Nimari is not doing anything live with us, but we do anticipate him, at some point this summer, being able to start to go live with 5-on-5 stuff,” said Oats at Greystone Golf & Country Club, per Potter. “He’s coming along, though. He’s on time, and we think by the end of the summer, he’ll be able to do some live, 5-on-5 stuff.”

As you can see, Nate Oats believes Jahvon Quinerly and Nimari Burnett are on their way back to being contributors for the Crimson Tide. When the games begin to matter the most, Alabama will have two important pieces back on the court.

Furthermore, Jahvon Quinerly is returning to Alabama for his senior campaign in 2022-2023. After averaging 13.8 points, 4.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 41.1% from the field last season, it’s evident the star guard played a significant role in the Crimson Tide’s success – meaning his return is a big deal.

Quinerly – a former On3 Consensus five-star recruit out of the Class of 2018 – has been an important part of Alabama’s team over the past two seasons. After averaging 12.9 points per game in 2020-2021, Quinerly improved his numbers last year and should be able to take another step forward next season.

Jahvon Quinerly’s best game of the 2021-2022 campaign came in a win over South Dakota State on Nov. 12, as he put up 26 points, eight assists and five rebounds. The guard scored in double figures 23 times last season.
