Nick Saban knew the mistakes on the field that cost Alabama a chance to beat Texas over the weekend, but said they are “fixable.”

Can it be fixed in one week’s time? Saban and the Crimson Tide faithful hope so in order to get the team back on track and keep a national championship in their sights.

Alabama heads to South Florida to take on the Bulls this weekend Saban noted what went wrong against Texas and how it could get fixed.

“So, I don’t think it’s any huge secret or anything that we did not execute on a consistent enough basis,” Saban said during Monday’s presser. “You know, in this last game, too many turnovers, penalties, mental errors on defense, sacks. Things that are helpful and being consistent in terms of whether it’s sustaining drives, not giving up big plays that lead to field position and scores. So the focus is 100% on how we get it turned around, you know, the future is now alright?

“We got to do a better job as coaches to help them be able to play, you know, better, more consistently in the game, put them in a position where they have the best chance to be successful. But I think all these things are fixable, very fixable.”

It’s on the coaches and players and Saban made sure to note he believed in his team and nothing against the Longhorns changed that fact.

“I believe in our players,” Saban said. “I think we’ve got good players. I think, you know, Texas has a good team. And it’s like I said before, you know, it was a test. It was like an early test in a semester. We didn’t grade out very well on the test. So, you know, what are we going to do to get a better grade?

“I think that’s what we have to really learn and grow from and make a commitment to and, you know, I think our players with the kind of character and attitude that we’ve shown, you know, so far as a team, I think they’ll respond the right way. And I think the coaches will do the same.”

In the 34-24 loss, the offense could not keep up and there were two costly interceptions from quarterback Jalen Milroe. He threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns, but turned it over twice.

The run game couldn’t quite get going either as Jase McClellan led all rushers with 45 yards on just 12 carries.

There’s not quite impatience yet in Tuscaloosa, but Saban and Alabama will certainly look for a quick bounce back this weekend before diving into SEC play.
