Pete Golding has not been afraid to unleash the cheetah package this season, getting three top-level pass rushers on the field at the same time. While Will Anderson and Dallas Turner are staples in the Alabama defense, adding Chris Braswell into the equation has been giving opposing offenses headaches on Saturdays.

Braswell discussed all three of the stars being on the field at the same time, saying “it’s great” to get out there and go after quarterbacks. You could tell he enjoys when the package is called by Golding. However, he did admit there is still something left to be desired, wanting to play better defense.

“It’s great playing with those guys,” Braswell said. “Being able to be on the field at the same time at times. It’s fun. We always talk about playing on the field with each other. It’s a great thing to be out there with those guys. Just got to continue to get better and play better defense.”

Anderson and Turner get most of the spotlight for the Crimson Tide, and rightfully so. But Braswell has been effective for them this season, having 1.5 sacks and three tackles for a loss. The cheetah package is a dangerous one when deployed, as offensive lines have to pick and choose which to block.

Roydell Williams highlights area of improvement

As one of the top running backs in the nation for the 2020 recruiting cycle, Alabama tailback Roydell Williams saw plenty of action his sophomore year for the Crimson Tide. He tallied 284 rushing yards and a touchdown last year, before his season was cut short due to suffering a knee injury against the New Mexico State Aggies. The knee needed to be surgically repaired and Williams rehabbed in the off-season to get things back up to speed.

In his recent press conference, the 5-foot-10, 212-pound tailback discussed the recovery process and the things he’s improved on this season. You can listen to the audio in the YouTube video below from 2:47 to 3:08 or just read the transcribed quote below.

“You know, just coming off the injury. Downstairs they’ve done a great job–the training staff. Getting my speed back up. Being able to cut. Being comfortable cutting on this leg. It’s just been very good to be out there. And I’ve been getting comfortable with the offense and stuff. So, it’s been good,” Williams said.
