Even before entering the transfer portal, Jordan Addison was a popular name across college football. Winning the Biletnikoff Award with Pittsburgh last season, Addison has now decided to put himself on the open market and potentially find a new team for 2022. USC has been a popular name early on however the wide receiver recently made an interesting Alabama connection.

According to The Athletic, Addison is out in the state of California, training with Crimson Tide Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young. The quarterback is from around the Los Angeles area and is preparing for the upcoming season back home. Now, the connection could possibly open up the doors for Alabama in the transfer portal recruitment.

“It wouldn’t be shocking if the Crimson Tide became a factor in his transfer considerations,” The Athletic said.

It’s no surprise Young is looking for new weapons as five out of his top six targets from last season are no longer with the program. Jameson Williams may be the expectation, also coming out of the transfer portal and becoming one of the nation’s best receivers before getting drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Alabama would hope Addison could yield similar results and keep the high-powered offense rolling in Tuscaloosa.

According to the On3 transfer portal rankings, Addison is the top player available and No. 15 overall throughout the entire cycle. USC is currently 100% on the On3 RPM thanks to a prediction from WeAreSC‘s Scott Schrader with 65% confidence.

However, everything is just getting underway for Addison, who is reportedly wanting a “formal process.” Fall camp is a long way away and the Biletnikoff winner will have plenty of time to make his final decision.

If head coach Nick Saban were to bring Addison to Tuscaloosa, it would be the third high-level transfer for the Crimson Tide this offseason. Jermaine Burton switched over to Alabama from Georgia and went through spring practice, while speedster Tyler Harrell will be with the team come the fall via Louisville.

Wide receiver was once thought to be a position of concern for Alabama but Addison would instantly make them one of the top groups in the country.

Additionally, Addison would be the fourth top 15 transfer addition, per the On3 transfer portal rankings, for the Crimson Tide. Burton ranks at No. 5, while former Georgia Tech running back Jahmyr Gibbs is No. 3, and LSU cornerback Eli Ricks slots in at No. 9.
