Arkansas coach Sam Pittman revealed some of unfortunate injury news regarding true freshman tight end Luke Hasz following a 34-22 loss to Texas A&M on Saturday. Hasz left the game early in the first quarter and did not return, and Pittman gave an update on his status postgame.

Hasz suffered a broken clavicle, putting his status for the remainder of the season in serious doubt.

“Luke Hasz broke his clavicle on the first or second play of the game,” Pittman said.

Luke Hasz wasn’t the the only Arkansas player to go down with injury. Pittman also revealed that cornerback Dwight McGlothern “got a concussion.” That would make him questionable to play next week against Ole Miss, and his status will likely be monitored throughout the week.

The loss of Hasz is a major blow for the Razorbacks, as ranked second on the team in receiving entering Saturday with 15 catches for 239 yards and three touchdowns. He recorded just one catch for 14 yards prior to exiting the game against the Aggies.

Hasz arrived on campus as a four-star recruit out of Bixby (OK) High School. He was the No. 212-ranked prospect in the nation from the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

With Hasz likely out for a while, Francis Sherman, Nathan Bax and Var’keyes Gumms are candidates to see more reps. Gumms came in Saturday’s contest and recorded one catch for two yards following Hasz’s exit.

As for McGlothern, he has been a key piece of the secondary this season and leads the Razorbacks with two interceptions in addition to seven tackles, one forced fumble and one pass defended. His impact would certainly be missed if he can’t go next week. Arkansas already ranks 10th in the SEC with 231.3 passing yards allowed per game and really can’t afford to lose depth.

Arkansas did receive good injury news ahead of its game against Texas A&M as running back Raheim Sanders returned after missing the past few games with a banged up knee. However, he was ineffective in rushing for just 34 yards on 11 carries.

The Razorbacks are coming off their third straight loss after beginning the season 2-0. That in mind, they’ll hope for some positive news on the injury front ahead of their matchup against the Rebels, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday in Oxford.
