Arkansas wide receiver Jadon Haselwood is back to enjoying football. He was excellent in 2021 at Oklahoma, breaking out with 39 catches for 399 yards and six touchdowns. Then, as the season neared an end, his head coach, Lincoln Riley, absconded to USC, leaving the Sooners program in disarray and his players in a panic. Many transferred away, including Haselwood, who found a new home at Arkansas.

After an offseason of turbulence, the new Razorback wideout is back to enjoying playing football. This time in a more stable environment. His coach has noticed the positive shift in Haselwood’s attitude as well.

Arkansas skipper Sam Pittman was asked at his press conference this week if he could see the joy returning to Haselwood since the season started, since Haselwood himself had recently said he was just now enjoying playing again. Pittman answered yes, and then raved about his impact on the team.

“I think, yeah I can. I think he’s having a good time. He’s a physical kid. He’s a man. I mean, he’s a mature kid. Not afraid to say his opinion, which helps the football team. And not afraid to lead,” Pittman said of Haselwood. “Brings a lot of confidence to the offensive side of the football team. I mean, he just does. He brings a lot of confidence. He’s never down, you know.”

Sounds like the newcomer is already one of the strongest voices in the locker room. A real experienced playmaker whose confidence commands respect, even if he’s only been at Arkansas for a number of months. Though he is entering his fourth year as a college football player. So the experience is there.

Pittman then wrapped up his comments by sharing his outright adoration of Haselwood the player.

“I like everything about him. I think he’s tough, physical, and a good player. But I hope he’s having fun, because I’m having fun because he’s on the team,” Pittman said.

So a perfect marriage for Jadon Haselwood to Arkansas and Sam Pittman. The Transfer Portal working in wonderful and mysterious ways for the Hogs and Haselwood. The junior WR is already up to eight catches, 72 yards and a touchdown through a pair of games in Fayetteville. With more great performances on the way.
