Arkansas could use some help to get off of their recent five-game losing streak. It might be on the way, though, based on what Sam Pittman had to share as far as updates for DL Cameron Ball and DB Dwight McGlothern.

With both practicing last week and missing last weekend’s game at Alabama, Pittman shared new thoughts on both of their statuses on Monday. To start, he went with Ball as he believes that he has a shot at returning to the field this weekend against Mississippi State.

“I think Cam has got a chance this week,” said Pittman. “I don’t know the percentile of that. But I think he has a chance.”

Ball missed the matchup with the Crimson Tide this past weekend due to an injury. Through the first six games of the season, the redshirt sophomore totaled 17 tackles and half a sack for the Razorbacks.

As for McGlothern, Pittman wasn’t so sure. After suffering a concussion against Texas A&M, he thought the senior defensive back would be good to go in Tuscaloosa. Since he wasn’t, his status remains a question mark entering game week against the Bulldogs.

“(McGlothern)? I have no idea, to be honest with you,” Pittman said.

In his four appearances this fall, McGlothern has nine tackles, two interceptions, two pass deflections, and a forced fumble.

Arkansas seems like they need just a little bit more to get over the hump after falling short the past few weeks. Returns from players like Ball and McGlothern could be exactly what the doctor ordered in that sense to help the ‘Hogs get off their losing run.

Pittman breaks down recruiting momentum amid on-field struggles

Sam Pittman has not enjoyed the success he would have liked on the field so far this season. The Razorbacks are 2-5 on the year and have lost their last five games.

However, Pittman and his staff have had some great success on the recruiting trail. Their 2024 class ranks 20th in the country, according to On3’s 2024 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Pittman discussed that recruiting class during a press conference last week and the reasons why he thinks they have decided to commit to the school

“I think there’s several different reasons,” Pittman said. “Some of them are coming into play for their position coach and you know all those that things. I feel really, really good about the guys that we have committed to us. Real good. But we also work very hard at keeping that relationship going too. We know there’s vultures out there. They’re saying that we lost four in a row and they’re letting them know too like they don’t already know. It’s their school that they’re committed to. But it’s a relationship game. It’s a relationship business, if you will. As long as we keep our relationships, I do not feel like we’ll have much of a problem of losing any of our commits.”
