Baylor quarterback Blake Shapen left Thursday’s game against West Virginia after a big hit by Mountaineers defender Andrew Wilson-Lamp. Wilson-Lamp was then ejected for targeting after the play.

Shapen went to slide with 6:30 to play in the third quarter when Wilson-Lamp laid a hit on him. He was shaken up afterward and ended up heading to the locker room as a result. Later, he walked out in street clothes and was ruled out for the rest of the game.

At the time of the injury, Shapen was having a big day for Baylor, completing 14 of 22 passes for 326 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bears offense. However, West Virginia kept pace to tie things up 24-24 earlier in the quarter. Kyron Drones came in to take over for Shapen after the injury.

The Bears are trying to improve to 4-2 on the season and eventually took a lead, 31-24, over West Virginia in the third quarter.

Baylor defensive lineman Siaki Ika injured in third quarter against West Virginia

Baylor suffered a major blow to its defense on Thursday night when star defensive tackle Siaki Ika was injured against West Virginia. He went down on the ground for a few minutes, before walking off the field on his own power.

Ika was seen cheering on his teammates with his helmet on in the second half, so he appears to be fine, but is likely ruled out for the rest of the game.

Ika was a preseason second team All-Big 12 selection by Pro Football Focus. Last season, he was named the Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year after racking up four sacks in 12 starts. Ika also tied for the sixth most tackles for loss on the team. In Baylor’s Sugar Bowl victory against Ole Miss, he shined, setting a career-high with five total tackles.
