The Baylor Bears were able to end their three-game losing streak on Wednesday night with a hard-fought road victory over the UCF Knights. The Bears picked up a much-needed win after falling on the road to Kansas State and Texas, followed by a gut-wrenching loss to TCU at home.

Baylor was challenged and trailed much of the night but was able to pull off a late-game run to pick up the 77-69 victory. Following the game, in the postgame press conference, one of the stars on the night for the Bears guard, Langston Love, detailed how they were able to bounce back against the Knights to end their three-game losing streak.

“Just staying together, staying tough,” said Love. “Tough teams; the teams that aren’t tough they will fold in those moments [and] start pointing fingers. We knew as long as we were together, we have God on our side, that anything could happen.”

What could go right did go right for Baylor in the second half. After trailing by six points heading into halftime 38-32, the Bears pulled out all the stops in the final 20 minutes of play, outpacing the Knights 45-31. Love was immense for Baylor off the bench, leading them and the game in scoring with 24 points on 6-11 shooting from the field and an impressive 5-7 from beyond the ark. He also tacked on seven total rebounds and had an assist against UCF.

Baylor falls in triple overtime; first loss at Foster Pavilion

Baylor’s last loss to the TCU Horned Frogs was arguably their most difficult loss to stomach thus far. Baylor just moved into their new home arena, Foster Pavilion, on Jan. 2, 2024. The Bears were undefeated there until their multiple overtime matchup against the Horned Frogs.

The battle between TCU and Baylor needed three overtime periods to decide a victory. In the end, the Bears came up short, falling at home 105-102.

The final few possessions of the third overtime were the deciding factor, with the Horned Frogs’ senior 6-foot-2 guard, Jameer Nelson Jr., coming up big down the stretch. Nelson would score TCU’s final six points to lead them to victory. Four of his six points came at the free-throw line. However, Nelson’s lone field goal for TCU in the final minute of action came off of his own missed shot attempt in which he got the offensive rebound and quickly put a shot up to give the Horned Frogs a 1-point, 103-102 lead with 10 seconds to go in the game.
