The Cincinnati Bearcats punter was feeling good after a punt in the second quarter, trolling Alabama after pinning them inside the ten-yard line. Mason Fletcher punted a 54-yard kick to the Alabama 10-yard line that was covered well by his teammates, tackling the returner for a loss.

Cincinnati punter trolling Alabama

After his first punt of the game, Fletcher took the moment to taunt the Crimson Tide. Walking down the field mimicking MMA fighter Conor McGregor’s signature walk, Fletcher had words for Alabama fans in attendance.

Fletcher’s taunt came with the Bearcats trailing 10-3 in the second quarter of the Cotton Bowl. After both teams opened the game with long drives over ten plays each, the defense picked up for Alabama to hold Cincinnati to their first punt of the game.

The big punt certainly helped his team at least, as Alabama’s drive afterwards stalled out and ended with a missed field goal attempt. Fletcher’s punt was also the longest punt of his career.

On Cincinnati’s next drive, Fletcher got involved in the game a second time after Alabama muffed the punt return but recovered the loose ball. Fletcher rushed to the pileup to be involved, and Alabama’s return unit committed a personal foul by grabbing Fletcher around the waist and throwing him to the ground.

Second punter to taunt Alabama

Fletcher isn’t the first punter of late to take a celebration to the next level against the Crimson Tide. In the Iron Bowl rivalry game with Auburn, punter Oscar Chapman mocked Alabama’s Jameson Williams by striking his Karate Kid celebration pose.

Williams was ejected from the game with Auburn and Alabama tied at 0-0. In the second quarter, he hit Auburn punt returner Ja’Varrius Johnson helmet-to-helmet while trying to tackle him.

The highly contested game ended in the fourth overtime with Alabama getting the last laugh, opening the door for Chapman to be pointed out for his premature celebration.
