Clemson had a pair of starters miss Saturday’s game against Charleston Southern as safety Andrew Mukuba and receiver Cole Turner were held out with injuries.

Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney provided an update on both during his press conference Tuesday morning.

Swinney shared that Mukuba is “day-to-day but doing good,” while Turner will be back this weekend when Clemson hosts FAU.

“I hate Cole missed this past week, but he’ll be back for sure,” Swinney said.

In addition to getting back Turner, Clemson will also have freshman receiver Tink Kelley available against the Owls. Kelley has yet to play in a game this season and the plan is for Clemson to redshirt him. However, he is a player capable of making plays, according to Swinney.

“He’s going to be back this week. [Tink is] a guy that we’re really excited about. I mean really, really excited about,” Swinney said. “A guy that last year and the year before would’ve been right there in the mix. But with Antonio [Williams] and Tyler [Brown], we feel like we might can hold that kid if we can. So we’ll just see what happens, but he’s ready if we need him.”

Finally, Swinney provided an update on another Clemson freshman in defensive lineman Vic Burley.

Burley has also yet to appear in a game this season, but unlike Kelley, the plan is for Burley to avoid a redshirt and be a regular contributor for the Tigers.

“He’s back. He’s back in practice this week. We’ll see how he does today and tomorrow,” Swinney said. “Today will be full pads day and tomorrow will be a shells day, but he just got put back last night into practice. So we’ll see. He’s a guy we hope will be able to help us.”

Dabo Swinney doubles down on statement about Clemson’s Week 1 performance

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney received some pushback after his comments praising his offense’s effort in Week 1 against Duke.

After the Tigers pounded Charleston Southern this past Saturday, Swinney doubled down on those remarks.

“Thankfully we won this one,” Swinney said. “I know y’all didn’t like my comment the other day. I’ll take 200-plus every game and I’ll take those odds without the turnovers. I think that’s about 1,800 times that’s happened since 2014 and that team’s won 98% of the time. We found the 2% anomaly. We figured out how to do that. But I’m super excited. These guys are confident. (Offensive coordinator) Garrett (Riley)’s got a good feel for what we’re doing and it’s been a blast.”
