Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy four-star defensive lineman Hevin Brown-Shuler told On3 in mid-March that he was ready to make a commitment decision. And that’s exactly what he will do on April 22.

Sunday night, Brown-Shuler announced that he will commit to the school of his choice in just under two weeks. Among the contenders are the 13 schools he named at the top of his list back in January: Colorado, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Michigan, North Carolina, Penn State, Texas A&M, Virginia and USC.

But three schools have stood out from the group for sometime: Clemson, Oklahoma and Georgia. And in that smaller group, one program is trending heavily in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

The Tigers currently hold an 84.6 percent chance of securing Brown-Shuler’s commitment, with a handful of other programs trailing far behind.

Clemson in pole position to land Brown-Shuler

Clemson has held a significant lead ever since On3’s Chad Simmons was the first to place a prediction in the Tigers’ favor back in early January.

“I like where Clemson stands, really ever since he released his list of top schools,” Simmons said last month. “He has family in South Carolina, and they’ve made him a priority early on. He’s been there multiple times for games, for junior day visits as well. There’s strong communication with Lemanski Hall and the staff there; it’s also close to home in Atlanta. And they do a great job of recruiting the state of Georgia — it’s very important to them.

… There are other schools in the mix. But right now, it’s kind of Clemson and then everybody else. They’re the school that’s been trending and they’ve only been picking up momentum over the past few months.”

The Tigers have had major success recruiting defensive linemen in Georgia over the past few years, especially since poaching defensive line coach Nick Eason from Auburn. Already in 2024, Clemson has a commitment from On300 Norcross (Ga.) Meadowcreek’s Champ Thompson. And in 2023, the Tigers pulled both Vic Burley and Stephiylan Green — a pair of top-five prospects in Georgia — away from the Peach State.

Hevin Brown-Shuler is the No. 153 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 19 defensive lineman and the No. 26 recruit in the state of Georgia.
