Clemson running back named Collegiate Man of Year semifinalist

Clemson running back Darien Rencher has been named a semifinalist for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year award. The award is focused primarily on a player’s leadership, both on and off the field.

A former walk-on, Rencher has taken a larger role on the this season with the lack of depth in the running back room. The redshirt senior has four carries for 14 yards. The 2020 Disney Spirit Award recipient, he has made the ACC Honor Roll five times. Rencher was a lead organizer in last summer’s Clemson Community Peaceful Demonstration on campus.

The winner of the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year will receive a $10,000 contribution in his name to his school’s athletic scholarship fund.

Three finalists will be named for the award on Dec. 15. The winner will be announced at the award ceremony in Frisco, Texas, on Feb. 17, 2022.

2022 SG Chauncey Gibson makes things official

On Oct. 9, Chauncey Gibson announced his commitment to Clemson’s men’s basketball program.

Fast forward four and half weeks, and the Texas-based shooting guard has now made things official with the Tigers. Gibson signed with Clemson earlier today on the first day of the early signing period for basketball players, which ends on Nov. 17.

Gibson told ClemsonSports.com senior recruiting reporter Joseph Hastings that signing his Letter of Intent on Wednesday is a moment he will cherish forever.

Clemson lands commitment from 2022 forward RJ Godfrey

Clemson has landed a commitment from its top remaining target in the class of 2022 as forward RJ Godfrey committed to the Tigers on Wednesday.

Godfrey chose Clemson over finalists Georgia, Georgia Tech, Texas Tech, Utah and Ole Miss. The North Gwinnett star joins Chauncey Wiggins and Chauncey Gibson in the class of 2022.

While Godfrey was down to six finalists, he told Clemson Sports that his decision really came down to a final two.

Clemson keeping tabs on in-state 2023 RB Jarvis Green

Clemson’s two 2023 running back offers are Justice Haynes and Richard Young, but it’s going to be hard to land either of them.

Haynes, a Georgia Bulldogs legacy, is thought to be a UGA lean, while Young recently said that Alabama and Ohio State are at the top of his leaderboard.

With that being the case, running backs coach C.J. Spiller is likely to expand the board at some point in the future. If he does, one name to keep an eye out for is in-state junior Jarvis Green.
