Venice (Fla.) five-star cornerback Charles Lester III is set to announce his college decision on July 28. One of the schools in Lester’s final four received a visit from him just days before that announcement.

Lester made his way back to Colorado on Wednesday. The trip is his second to Boulder and first time back since his official visit on June 9.

On July 28 Lester will pick between the AlabamaGeorgia and Florida State. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), the Seminoles have a heavy lead in Lester’s recruitment. They currently sit with a 90.5% chance to land his pledge.

The Seminoles may be viewed as the favorite for Lester but according to Warchant.com recruiting insider Michael Langston, Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes can’t be counted out even if he didn’t include them in his top three.

“For me, it’s always been Colorado as the biggest threat,” Langston said on the Inside Scoop earlier this month. “Because one, he just got the two best cornerbacks in a row, I think, in Cormani McClain and Travis (Hunter). Certainly, there’s a threat, and Deion does good with defensive backs.

… I’m not totally sold that Charles ends up playing DB. It wouldn’t shock me in the end in college if he played receiver. Just because he loves that position, even though he’s said DB all the time. I feel good about where FSU sits going into that July 28 event. But certainly, you still have to feel not at ease when Deion is involved and you have Colorado right there, what they do with defensive backs. But I think they’re in a pretty good position there.”

Lester is a five-star prospect ranked No. 20 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 cornerback and No. 4 player from Florida.

Whether is Colorado, Alabama, or Georgia, overtaking Florida State won’t be an easy challenge for any school to overcome. The Seminoles have been the favorite for Lester for awhile now and he’s visited Florida State more than any other school up to this point in his recruitment.

“I would say Florida State is the leader right now in this process for me,” Lester III told On3 in April. “If I had to choose today, I would go there. That’s the first time I’ve told anybody that. … To be honest, Florida State is my No. 1 school right now.

“It would mean the world to me,” he added on regarding a potential commitment to the Seminoles. “I know there are many great programs out there, but to be able to play for FSU, it would mean more to me than any other school because of my pride and connection is great. I’m a childhood fan of the Seminoles, and there’s something about that place I feel home, and it’s special. There’s a lot of history to be made at FSU.”
