The Colorado Football Instagram page just hit the big time thanks to Deion Sanders, or Coach Prime, if you will.

Colorado became just the fourth program on the social media app to hit one million followers on the platform. Thanks to Sanders, Colorado is one of the most popular football programs in America.

You won’t believe what Colorado started with either, prior to Sanders’ arrival.

That’s right, 58,000 followers. That’s amazing to be in the same conversation as LSU, Alabama and Ohio State.

Sanders’ impact is no secret. The Pro Football Hall of Famer created more buzz for Colorado than any other college football team, arguably, in modern day history.

At 4-2, the Buffaloes are competitive and have a Friday night tilt against Stanford coming up. They’re that much closer to bowl eligibility.

That was something unfathomable for Colorado prior to Sanders’ arrival after the 2022 campaign.

Bringing in players such as his sons Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, as well as two-way star Travis Hunter, the quality of team immediately increased.

Since Coach Prime is high profile, there were bound to be a lot of cameras. Heck, there was a lot of access to Sanders and crew while he coached at Jackson State while winning two conference titles.

On the field success, offseason buzz and an otherworldly roster transformation led to growth on and off the field.

There was no buzz on television or social media, regarding Colorado football. Once Sanders came to Boulder, thanks to athletic director Rick George, that all change.

College GameDay, Big Noon Kickoff (multiple times by the way) and others all made the trip for live television spectacles.

Sanders said it best: “we coming.” Colorado is here to stay.

With the superstar back at practice, Sanders provided the latest on two-way player.

“There’s a tremendous chance he could play,” Sanders said. “He has to be in shape. I don’t want him to be a liability.”

Hunter was one of the biggest additions for Sanders while he was the head coach at Jackson State. Originally committed to Florida State, he flipped his commitment to Coach Prime after coming in as the No. 2 overall recruit in the nation from the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Hunter was a Five Star Plus+ recruit, meaning he was one of the only players ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as a five star.
