Four days after he decommitted from the Texas Longhorns, On3 Consensus three-star linebacker Eoghan Kerry of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei is heading in a different direction.

Eoghan Kerry announced on social media Wednesday morning that he has committed to the Colorado Buffaloes.

Kerry is the No. 656 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He also ranks as the N0. 71 linebacker in the country and the 48th best player in California.

Eoghan Kerry originally committed to Texas in early August. However, he did take an official visit to Colorado on June 25 before making the decision to originally pick the Longhorns. He also had offers from Nevada, Yale, Penn and Columbia. He also had interest from a lot of Pac-12 programs before he originally committed to UT.

For Colorado, it’s a commitment that hopefully gets them in the door more at Mater Dei – one of the top high school football programs in the country.

The commitment from Eoghan Kerry pushes the Buffaloes to the No. 54 spot in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking. The Buffs were previously at No. 57.

Colorado now has 16 known commitments in the Class of 2022. Eoghan Kerry is the third-highest ranked recruit in the CU class behind three-star LB Aubrey Smith of Buford, Ga., and three-star safety Dylan Dixson of Pearland, Texas.

Eoghan Kerry is the second California high school player to pick the Buffaloes. Normally a fertile recruiting territory, CU has gone a slightly different direction in the Class of 2022. The Buffs have commitments from players all over the map – Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, Arizona and even Connecticut.
