Tim Tebow comments on Colorado Buffaloes and Deion Sanders, Their Impact on College Football

Travis Hunter has left Folsom Field and is heading to the hospital, according to BuffZone’s Brian Howell. The Colorado two-way talent took a big hit from a Colorado State defender and stayed on the ground for some time.

Hunter came back in the game to end the first half, but wasn’t on the field when the Buffaloes came out of the locker room. He has been ruled out for the rest of the game as he gets further evaluation.

Hunter is an integral part of Colorado’s offense as a wide receiver and defense as a cornerback. Last week against Nebraska, he played in 126 snaps as the Buffaloes got their second win of the season. He entered Saturday’s game against Colorado State with 14 receptions for 192 yards on offense while contributing seven tackles and an interception on defense.

Hunter ran a go route down the left sideline, but had no chance to make a catch on a pass from Shedeur Sanders thanks to a pass interference epnalty on the defender. Right as the ball came down in front of Hunter, however, Henry Blackburn came across and delivered a crushing blow.

After a brief scuffle, Hunter remained on the sideline. Colorado scored quickly to tie the game at 14 with Sanders connecting on a long touchdown pass, and Hunter re-entered the game late in the first quarter on a defensive series for Colorado, playing cornerback.

Travis Hunter was one of the biggest additions for Deion Sanders while he was the head coach at Jackson State. Originally committed to Florida State, he flipped his commitment to Coach Prime after coming in as the No. 2 overall recruit in the nation from the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Hunter was a Five Star Plus+ recruit, meaning he was one of the only players ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as a five star.

Last year as a freshman at JSU, Hunter totaled 19 tackles and two interceptions on defense while adding 18 receptions for 190 yards and four touchdowns on offense. When Sanders left for Colorado, Hunter entered the transfer portal and joined his coach in Boulder. After he entered, he became the No. 1-ranked transfer to hit the portal during the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Transfer Portal Rankings.
