Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Institute four-star combo guard Ahmad Nowell has announced his commitment to UConn.

The 6-foot, 185-pound rising senior chose the Huskies over Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia Tech. He also received offers from Kansas, Auburn, and Memphis.

Nowell ranks as the No. 40 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 10 shooting guard in the class and the No. 2 player in Pennsylvania.

He joins fellow four-star small forward commitment Isaiah Abraham (No. 60).

Scouting Report

Ahmad Nowell is a connecting piece, someone that enhances the play of those around him. He is a tough defender, where he uses his strong frame and long arms to guard on and off the ball. On offense, he moves the ball around unselfishly and knocks down open threes off the catch. His 6-foot-0 frame can cause struggles for him in the paint and he lacks a dynamic blow-by speed on the ball, but he knows his game and plays within himself. Nowell has won a lot of games. His high school has won back-to-back state titles and his Team Final team finished Nike’s EYBL Circuit regular season in first place. He has a strong build and he competes. – On3’s Jamie Shaw
