The early signing period looms just a little more than two months away, and Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage EDGE Marvin Jones Jr. is getting no shortage of attention from his collegiate suitors.

Less than two weeks Jones’ visit to Oklahoma, the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect played in front of Florida defensive coordinator Todd Grantham Friday night.

The Gators are one of a handful of schools still in major pursuit of Jones Jr., joining Oklahoma, Florida State, Ohio State, Alabama and Clemson. He visited the Gators over the summer during a tour of the state’s three major Power Five programs.

After his trip to Oklahoma, he has official visits still on tap at Ohio State (October 30), Alabama (Nov. 6) and Florida State (Nov. 13).

Marvin Jones Jr. in no rush to make a decision

When he talked to On3 Senior National Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton after his visit to Oklahoma, Jones Jr. said he was in no rush to make a decision and would likely wait until after all of his official visits have been completed.

After that, he said, he’ll think he will look to make a decision in December, though if he falls in love with a school and wants to commit before then, he could pull the trigger. After going through the recruiting process with his older brother Daryl, a cornerback at West Virginia, Marvin Jones Jr. says he’ll put plenty of though into his decision.

“(Daryl) lets me know to stay humble throughout the process, ask the right questions and be smart, honestly. I want to be somebody that a young player can look up to say, ‘I want to play him and be like him.’”

“…You’re presented with opportunities to go anywhere in the country. A lot of kids dream about things like that.”
