Orange Park (Fla.) four-star interior offensive lineman Roderick Kearney flipped his commitment Monday from Florida State to Florida.

The decision also flips the Gators and Clemson in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.

The 2023 Gators recruiting class, which entered the day ranked ninth in the country, jumped over the Tigers to No. 8 overall following Kearney’s announcement.

Kearney is the 22nd commit in the class, which ranks fourth in the SEC behind Alabama, Georgia and LSU.

“Florida just felt right,” Kearney told On3. “ It feels like home from the coaching staff, my future teammates, to the whole atmosphere. Florida is also closer to home, and I feel like it was the better choice for me and my family. Florida also has a great program for school.”

With his commitment, Kearney becomes one of the highest-rated recruits in the class alongside Gardendale (Ala.) four-star defensive lineman Kelby Collins, Orlando (Fla.) Boone four-star wide receiver Aidan Mizell, Tampa (Fla.) Wharton four-star cornerback Dijon Johnson and Tampa (Fla.) Gaither four-star wide receiver Eugene Wilson III.

Flipping Roderick Kearney is a huge deal for Florida

Roderick Kearney is the No. 136 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The 2023 On300 ranking ranks him much higher as the nation’s 66th-best prospect and as the fourth-best interior offensive lineman in the country. He is also the No. 15 recruit from the state of Florida.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $132k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
