Name a more exciting player in high school football than Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill athlete Travis Hunter. We’ll wait.

The five-star defensive back and receiver, ranked the No. 2 overall player in the 2022 On300 rankings, can quite literally do it all. He’s an electric pass-catcher and returner, and he’s a ballhawk on the defensive side of the field.

He proved that yet again Friday night with a leaping interception and touchdown return in Collins Hill’s 34-0 win over previously undefeated East Coweta. The 6-foot-1 Hunter jumps in front of the East Coweta receiver and picks the ball of at its highest point. Before he can even land, he’s off to the races toward the end zone, returning the ball for a touchdown.

In addition to the pick-six, Hunter had a pair of touchdown catches from Missouri quarterback commit Sam Horn, one from 38 yards out and another on a three-yard pitch.

Hunter remains committed to Florida State despite the Seminoles’ 0-3 start and uncertainty around head coach Mike Norvell’s future, and Hunter simply isn’t a recruit they can afford to lose.

“Travis Hunter is the most impactful non-quarterback in high school football,” On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power said. “He has truly elite ball skills with a huge catch radius. Hunter makes use of that ability as a receiver and defensive back. In watching a bunch of his games over the past year, it’s a question of when, not if Hunter makes a huge play. The competitiveness and stamina to never come off the field is also very impressive.”
