The Florida State Seminoles announced on Friday that the program has officially sold out its allotment of tickets for FSU-LSU in New Orleans. The non-conference matchup is one of the most highly anticipated games of college football’s 2022 opening weekend.

The Seminoles had 30,000 tickets to the Caesars Superdome to spread out amongst the fans. LSU also had an allotment of 30,000 tickets for the not-so-neutral site game. The matchup will be broadcast by ABC on Sept. 4, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET. FSU is receiving $5.1 million in guaranteed money for playing in the game.

FSU is still selling season tickets, three-game ticket packages and single-game tickets for the 2022 season.

Unlike the Tigers, the Seminoles get a tune-up game before heading to New Orleans. They host the Duquesne Dukes on Aug. 27 in Doak Campbell Stadium.

Vegas pegs Seminoles as underdogs versus LSU

Although both schools are hoping to get back on the right track this season, the stakes are higher for Mike Norvell as he enters year three in Tallahassee. LSU head coach Brian Kelly will be on the sidelines for the first time after leaving Notre Dame, and expectations are just as high.

LSU and Florida State have not played each other in over 30 years, with a 1991 regular season matchup being the last meeting. The Seminoles currently hold a four-game winning streak dating back to 1983.

While the programs may not be overly familiar with each other, Kelly faced off against Florida State five times as the head coach of Notre Dame. He’s won three straight with the 2021 season opener being the latest edition. Kelly will know how to match up against Norvell and vice versa. The logos may change but there will be familiarity within this matchup.

VegasInsider currently pegs FSU as a four-point underdog to the Tigers on Sept. 4. The oddsmakers have also dropped win total numbers and for Florida State, they currently sit at 7.5. If the Seminoles can pull it off and hit the over, it would be a new high for the program under Norvell, who currently only has eight career wins with the Seminoles.
