Florida State was dealing with some injuries early in Friday night’s game against Louisville. Then, the Seminoles got more bad news in the second quarter.

Defensive end Jared Verse, who leads the Seminoles in sacks through two games, got shaken up in the second quarter and walked gingerly off the field. He headed directly to the medical tent once he got to the sideline and was later seen with a brace on his left knee.

Verse, a transfer portal addition from Albany, had a team-high 3.0 sacks through Florida State’s first two games of the 2022 season.

Florida State got off to a hot start to the year, defeating Duquesne and LSU out of the gate. The Seminoles will try to pull away from Louisville to make it a 3-0 start Friday night on the road.

After the Seminoles beat LSU in Week 1, Norvell had some high praise for Verse. He said Verse was “built” for the moment.

“I told him the other week that’s what, he’s built for this,” Norvell said. “He’s not built for it just because [of] the athletic ability, he’s built for it because–you guys watch him practice. You watch the mindset. You watch the approach. I mean, he is, you know, he has to go and prove it every day and he’s not always had the easiest journey but he gets an opportunity to go out there and I thought he played at an exceptional level.”

Florida State defensive lineman Fabien Lovett out for Week 3 game vs Louisville

Florida State defensive tackle Fabien Lovett did not dress for pregame warmups against Louisville on Friday night and will not play, according to Warchant.com. Lovett is a key returning starter and a redshirt junior for the Seminoles.

He appeared to suffer an injury with less than a minute remaining in the LSU game two weeks ago, while attempting to make a tackle.
