Florida State's Big Weekend Review | Who Is The Next Seminole Commitment? | Inside Scoop

Mike Norvell raved about Jordan Travis’ impact on the Florida State football program once the season was done.

Travis was lost for the year prior to the ACC title game and Orange Bowl. If he’d been healthy, perhaps FSU would’ve been in the College Football Playoff. Despite the disappointing end, Norvell will never forget Travis’ legacy in Tallahassee.

He might be one of the more beloved Florida State quarterbacks, or players in general, in program history.

“Yeah, Jordan, guys like Jordan, Kalen, those guys meant everything to this program because they were here when we came in the door and they said yes,” Norvell said. “They said yes, and we laid out every challenge you could imagine. I mean, I just love watching them grow.

“Jordan, for all the things that he had to go through, probably times where he doubted himself, all of what he could be, and to see him go and accomplish all that he could, ACC Player of the Year, all the things on the field, finished fifth in the Heisman, pretty special, what he did between the white lines for this program.”

Norvell knows Travis will go down in Florida State history. He felt that strongly about his quarterback.

“But he impacted this program so much more when he was off the field because what you see is what you get, and his heart, his care, just his passion for this place and passion for the people that he got to be able to do it with, he’s one of the all-time great Florida State Seminoles,” Norvell said.

“I am blessed that I got a chance to coach him. I’m blessed I got a chance to coach Kalen DeLoach, Tatum Bethune, guys with all different journeys. You see the impact that they’ve made, and it’s pretty special.”

After spending his freshman year at Louisville, Travis spent the next five years at Florida State. He really came into his own over the last two seasons.

This past year, Travis played 11 games and threw for 2,756 yards, 20 touchdowns, two interceptions, a 63.9% completion percentage, 176 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns.

As a member of the Class of 2018, Travis was a three-star recruit out of North Palm Beach (Fla.) The Benjamin School, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 131 overall prospect in the state, the No. 61 quarterback in the class and the No. 866 overall prospect in the class.
