There wasn’t much Dino Babers and Syracuse could do about Keon Coleman when the Orange fell 41-3 to Florida State.

In fact, Babers had to be honest about the Michigan State transfer wideout. Coleman’s been a revelation since he came down to Tallahassee.

Babers had quite the description of Coleman after watching him have another banner night that included a ridiculous one-handed catch.

“God was showing off when he made him,” Babers said, via Warchant.

Coleman finished the game with nine catches for 140 yards and a touchdown, averaging 15.6 yards per catch. He also had six punt returns for 107 yards, averaging 17.8 yards per return.

It’s no secret that Coleman was one of the biggest impact transfers after the cycle this offseason. He made an instant impact alongside Johnny Wilson in Florida State’s receiving corps.

So far this season, Coleman has 29 catches for 418 yards, seven touchdowns and 14.4 yards per catch. In his career with Michigan State and Florida State, Coleman has 94 catches, 1,266 yards, 15 touchdowns and 13.5 yards per catch.

As a member of the Class of 2021, Coleman was a four-star recruit out of Opelousas (La.) Catholic School, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 13 overall prospect in the state, the No. 57 wide receiver in the class and the No. 368 overall prospect in the class.

Jordan Travis raves over Keon Coleman sparking FSU offense

After the win, Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis shared how Coleman has sparked the Seminoles offense in 2023.

“One of the bigger sparks since I’ve been here,” the veteran quarterback told the TV crew after the win. “Just having a guy like that, with Johnny [Wilson] out today. Just making big plays. I can throw the ball anywhere. I threw the ball really, really high on that play and Keon went up with one hand and made a big-time play. He’s just a great guy with great vibes on the sideline and we’re so grateful to have him.”

It’s tough to have a better connection than Travis and Coleman and it could lead the Seminoles to immense heights this year.
