Mike Norvell Shares How Recruits Reacted To Florida State’s Playoff Snub | 12.20.23

Mike Norvell secured the signatures of longtime verbal commits quarterback Luke Kromenhoek and running back Kam Davis during early national signing day.

In an industry filled with last second flips and offers, Norvell was able to keep both. Each have been committed for well over a year to this point, which doesn’t always work out. Still, Kromenhoek and Davis stayed true to Florida State and are set to join the team this offseason.

“For us, it really marks the official beginning, but there’s been so much time that’s gone into it, it’s just another step along the way,” Norvell said of his recruitment of Kromenhoek and Davis. “To see the investment in people that these guys have shown — whether it’s to each other, to this class, to the group that’s coming in — I have a lot of confidence in what this group is going to be able to accomplish because I already see the way that they interact with each other. You see the like-minded approach of which they bring.”

Kromenhoek is a four-star recruit listed as the No. 4 QB in the 2024 cycle and No. 6 player in Georgia. FSU offered him before he ever started a game at QB his high school — but saw his talent on display during camp visits and pulled the trigger early, which worked in Norvell’s favor.

For Davis, he put up 5,172 rushing yards, 36 scores and a 16.1-yard average during his first three years of high school football — while playing the quarterback position. He also played baseball and track and field for Dougherty (GA) High School.

“Yes, they are very, very talented, but when you take great talent with tremendous hearts and work ethic, the sky is the limit to what you can accomplish,” Norvell continued. “Kam, Luke, Charles [Lester III], a lot of those guys just spent so much energy investing in a relationship.

“That’s going to pay off when they’re here and when they’re not starting at ground zero. They’ve already been pouring into each other. Obviously that’s going to pay such great dividends once they start this process together.”

The two will be joining the team this offseason and fans will likely get their first look at their potential backfield of the future in Kromenhoek and Davis during the Seminoles’ spring game. For now, however, they’ll be cheering on FSU one more time before joining the program as they take on Georgia in the Orange Bowl.
