Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis broke out in 2022, helping to lead the Seminoles to their first bowl game since 2019 and their first 10-win season since 2016.

It was a phenomenal year for Travis and Florida State and they’re looking to build on that in 2023. One person who thinks that Travis has was it’s going to take to do this is former NFL quarterback and UAB head coach Trent Dilfer.

“I like the Travis kid at Florida State, for the same reasons I like Caleb [Williams]: He’s got a power/twitch combination,” Dilfer said. “He’s got way more power than people give him credit for, I think he’s labeled a dual threat or something, but he is an effortless power player and also has very twitchy qualities.”

Looking ahead to the NFL Draft, Dilfer added an interesting comparison for Jordan Travis, saying he’s like former Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Desmond Ridder. As Dilfer put it, both quarterbacks proved to be conquerors.

“I like Ridder a lot,” Dilfer said. “I think he’s a better version of Ridder, and for a lot of the same reasons. Ridder had a lot of what I just said, having to be the guy at Cincinnati. And I think Travis has had a lot of those things happen. They’re conquerors. They’re not survivors. They conquer negative circumstances, go ahead, bet against me.”

Before Jordan Travis thinks about the NFL Draft, though, he’s focused on winning at Florida State. There, he’s made it clear that his expectation is to compete for a national championship.

“But like I said before man, I’m a guy that wants to win a national championship. I came here to win a national championship,” Travis said. “I never said I’m coming here to win a Heisman.”

Jordan Travis is incredibly confident

Entering the 2023 season, Jordan Travis expects to be able to reach Florida State’s expectations. He has tons of confidence in himself and the team, even saying he’s as confident as he’s ever been.

“I’m as confident as I’ve ever been. Obviously, going into my sixth year of college it’s time to flip that switch and become confident. But when you have teammates like I have, it’s pretty easy to be confident,” Travis said.

“When you have a strong offensive line, receivers across the field, you can throw it up and they’ll get it. The defense is really good … it’s a blessing, man.”
