St. Louis (Mo.) East St. Louis junior offensive tackle Miles McVay made the trip to Athens this weekend alongside his high school teammate and On300 in the class of 2022 wide receiver Luther Burden.

McVay came away with his own impressions of the Georgia program. The Bulldogs offered the 6-foot-7, 370-pound offensive lineman back on Aug. 9, 2020.

“The fans’ love for the Dawgs and the game day traditions are deep,” McVay said. “What I am learning is that every school has its own traditions, so the opportunity to see what makes each school special and unique.

Georgia is one of the schools that stands out to McVay early in his recruitment. The Bulldogs were the fourth team to offer McVay a scholarship. That has stuck with him early in the recruiting process.

“UGA was one of the first schools to offer me, and that showed me they believed in me early,” McVay said. “After visiting and being a part of game day and meeting the coaches, UGA is high on my list.”

McVay has enjoyed talking with and getting to know Georgia offensive line coach Matt Luke. He’s also intrigued by Georgia’s ability to develop offensive linemen.

St. Louis college team-up coming for Miles McVay and high school teammate Luther Burden?

He and Burden have talked about potentially playing together in the future a lot during their high school career. Burden is set to choose between Georgia and Missouri on Tuesday.

McVay also has an offer from Missouri.

“We talk about it all the time,” McVay said. “We have been playing with each other for a while, so you never know.”

McVay has a few schools he’s high on including Georgia, Missouri, Alabama, Michigan State, Florida and Texas A&M among others.

Missouri and Illinois are the two local and home programs. McVay has seen many of the local football stars make the jump from the area into those programs.

McVay is looking past location when trying to narrow down his list of programs.

“Being from East St Louis, Ill and being a part of the St. Louis Metro Area and knowing so many players from our area that play for the home teams of Illinois Illini and the Missouri Tigers, it’s always intriguing,” McVay said. “I am open to playing out of state. It’s about best fit, coaching styles, and what makes me feel comfortable. I mostly have to trust and believe in the offensive line coach as well as the head coach.”

McVay will be visiting Jackson State on Saturday. The East St. Louis team will face IMG Academy at Jackson State on Friday night. McVay and the team will stay for the Deion Sanders’ coached team’s game on Saturday when they host Bethune-Cookman, who has offered McVay.
