Landen Thomas has emerged as one of the top tight ends in the 2024 class. The 6-foot-4, 238-pound rising junior out of Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County has over two dozen offers.

One is from Georgia.

The in-state program has been the apple of Thomas’ eye for months. And the No. 25 prospect in the On3 Consensus has now committed to the Bulldogs over the likes of Florida, Michigan, and Ohio State.

“I have known for a couple of months that I was going to Georgia, so there was no reason for me to wait any longer,” Thomas told On3. “I thought about waiting, letting everything play out, but the more I thought about it, I knew I was ready.

“Georgia is where I want to go.”

Thomas, the No. 1 tight end in the country, was at one time committed to Florida State. He grew up a fan of Miami. But over time, Georgia grew on him.

He has been to the school four times during his recruitment and the well-rounded nature of the program speaks to him.

“I just like it up there,” Thomas said. I love the college town, the coaches are great, and I am learning a lot about the tradition.

Landen Thomas is excited to join the Bulldogs’ tight end room too. Brock Bowers was a freshman All-American last season. In the 2023 class, they have commitments from four-stars Pearce Spurlin and Lawson Luckie.

Todd Hartley has that room stacked with talent and Thomas is the latest future addition to the group.

“Coach Hartley has been coming hard after me,” Thomas said. He is a great guy, he has shown me a lot of love, and I know I am wanted at Georgia. He coaches up the tight ends, they use two, sometimes three, in their offense, and it is a place I feel I can do really well at.”

Thomas is the second Georgia commitment in his class. His high school teammate, Ny Carr, committed to the Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Carr is the No. 19 player in the 2024 On3 Consensus. With Thomas and Carr committed, the Bulldogs are the first team in the cycle to land two top-25 players.

“Georgia has a great team, the talent is there, and I am getting to stay home and play for the home state school. It is a great fit for me,” Thomas said.
