JT Daniels saw some action in Georgia’s 44-6 victory over Missouri on Saturday.

Daniels had been sidelined for more than a month, and while Stetson Bennett got the bulk of work for the Bulldogs, Daniels finished 7-of-11 of 82 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

For the first time since the 62-0 win over Vanderbilt, both Stetson Bennett and JT Daniels saw significant reps in the same game.

Smart was asked specifically if the coaching staff is doing anything to ensure Daniels keeps his confidence high moving forward.

“Yeah I think most of that comes from reps in practice, right,” Smart responded. “You get confidence from repetition. Repetition is the mother of all skills.”

Bennett looked far more comfortable and the stat sheet reflected just that. He finished the day an impressive 13-of-19 for 255 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

JT Daniels made a few solid throws, but still looked off. He missed on a few rhythm throws, including an interception when the Bulldogs were driving.

Smart then added Daniels gets plenty of work in practice and noted he has the utmost confidence in him.

“And he gets reps, he works at it,” Smart said.

“He gets competitive reps against our defense, you know confidence is not given. Confidence is something that is earned by how you work. I think JT has a lot of confidence in himself. I stand by him sitting here and talking about it. I think he has tremendous confidence.”

JT Daniels or Stetson Bennett?

There are legitimate quarterback questions surrounding the No. 1 team in the country. Daniels entered the year as the clear starter, but a combination of injury and inconsistent play has opened the door for Bennett, yet again.

The Georgia Bulldogs head coach made sure to say he had full confidence in both quarterbacks.

“I think both of our quarterbacks have tremendous confidence and I have great confidence in them,” Smart said.

As of now, the offense rolls smoother with Bennett under center. His dual-threat ability gives an extra dimension.

JT Daniels set a Georgia record for most passing yards by a quarterback in their starting debut and got Georgia rolling down the end of the season. They finished 4-0 and defeated Cincinnati in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.

He was touted as a potential first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft ahead of the season, but his injury derailed his stock. At the moment, it seems that he could return to school in 2022, but he has to fight an uphill battle to win his job back this year.
