The Georgia football Twitter account has released a hype video ahead of Saturday’s matchup with South Carolina.

The video is narrated by Richard Appleby, who is a key figure in Georgia football history. He was one of the first African-American players to suit up for the Bulldogs. In 1971, Appleby was part of what is known as the “First Five”, the first five African American players to play for the Georgia Bulldogs‘ football program.

Check out the video below.

The video focuses on the team, commitment to each other, the importance of leaving a long-lasting legacy. Larry West, Horace King, Clarence Pope, Chuck Kinnebrew and Richard Appleby were the first African-American players to suit up for Georgia in 1971.

Appleby, a tight end, was part of one of the more famous plays in Georgia-Florida history. In 1975, with the Bulldogs trailing Florida 7-3 in the fourth quarter, head coach Vince Dooley walked up to Appleby and told him he was going to run a trick play that he’d been saving for him.

With a little more than three minutes remaining in the contest, Appleby got the football on an end-around and zipped a pass to Gene Washington for a 80-yard touchdown. The score would put Georgia ahead for good in a 10-7 victory over the Gators.

Dominant defensive front

Georgia’s defensive line has played exactly how many thought they would coming into the season, the most dominant unit in America full of future NFL talent. The seven sacks against Clemson showed everyone just how terrifyingly good the defensive line is capable of being. In just two games, the Bulldogs defensive front has already racked up 10 sacks and 14 tackles for loss.

They square off against South Carolina on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. EST. The game will be played at Georgia’s Sanford Stadium.
