Harker Heights (Texas) three-star running back Re’Shaun Sanford is preparing to kick off his senior season of high school football. The 5-foot-9, 170 pound tailback announced his commitment to Houston nearly two months ago.

In an Aug. 18 scrimmage against Round Rock, Sanford demonstrated his skillset on the first play. He ran to the left and looked to be tackled by a defender, but shed the tackle and took off down the right side of the field for a nearly 70-yard touchdown.

Sanford is the No. 980 overall prospect and No. 64 running back in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 175 player in Texas.

The Cougars earned Sanford’s commitment on June 28. He chose the program over multiple schools including North Texas, Rice and SMU.

Sanford felt like he had a successful junior season. Now he is looking to top it with Harker Heights.

“I definitely would say my junior season was a success, I accomplished all of my personal goals on and off the field,” Sanford told InsideTexas. “Heading into next year I’m working on getting bigger, faster, and stronger so I can meet my goal of rushing for 3,000 yards a senior. On the track this offseason the goal is to run 10.8 in the 100m and consistently get under sub 11.”

The tailback is currently the third running back in Houston’s 2023 recruiting class alongside Houston (Texas) Klein Forest four-star Parker Jenkins and Tulsa (Okla.) Jenks’ Jalyn Stanford. The Cougars’ group ranks No. 60 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 3 in the ACC. Houston’s class currently contains 10 commitments.

Sanford has an On3 NIL Valuation of $15.4K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
