Kansas State upset No. 4 Kansas 75-70 at home on Monday in overtime, snapping a four-game losing streak and sending their in-state rival back home with another road loss.

The Wildcats pulled away slightly during the final five minutes of regulation, but the Jayhawks wouldn’t go down without a fight. Despite taking a two-point lead within the final 30 seconds of regulation, Kansas would tie the game and force overtime.

Tylor Perry was sensational down the stretch during extra time. Hitting a reverse layup while falling down and nailing a 3-point basket helped put Kansas State in front — and they would never give up the lead. He finished with 26 points on the night to lead both teams, including 21 points during the second half and overtime.

“This team — we’ve been struggling but we are so resilient,” Perry said on the court postgame. “Our coaches just tell us to continue to believe. Coach Tang’s message to us is to always believe. If we didn’t believe we could win this game, he didn’t want us leaving the locker room.”

Kansas State has now won its last 11 overtime games and is K-State’s second overtime victory over an AP Top 10 team this season having defeated No. 9 Baylor on Jan. 16.

Kansas State improves to 15-8 on the season and gains a crucial Quad 1 win against Kansas in early February. Every win in conference play matters when it comes to the Wildcats’ NCAA Tournament resume — and the magnitude of this victory will be felt in Manhattan for the rest of the night and into the early hours of the morning.

“We’ve felt like we’ve been a good team all year,” Perry continued. “We’ve just had some struggles, some ups and downs. But like I said — and we have crazy faith over here, our coaches believe in us and our fans, there is nothing that we can’t do.”

Guards Perry and Cam Carter led the way for Kansas State during the game, combining for 45 of K-State’s 75 total points on the night. Forward Arthur Kaluma was the only other player on Kansas State’s roster to score in double figures and was able to ice the game with a pair of made free throws late in overtime.

For the Jayhawks, Hunter Dickinson had another big night, notching his 13th double-double of the season in the loss. KJ Adams, Dajuan Harris and Kevin McCullar all scored in double figures as well.

Despite the big win, things won’t be getting any easier for Kansas State, as they’re set to travel to No. 21 BYU on Saturday for a 10 p.m. ET tip.
