Multiple Kentucky players not dressed for season-opener vs. Ball State
According to Kentucky Sports Radio’s Nick Roush, several Wildcat players are not dressed just ahead of the season-opener vs. Ball State.
Roughly 40 minutes before kickoff, Roush tweeted that four ‘Cats weren’t dressed will likely not play in the team’s first game of the season. Those players were:
DE Tre’vonn Rybka
RB La’Vell Wright
CB Jordan Robinson
LB Grant Godfrey
On offense, the loss of Wright shouldn’t hurt the ‘Cats too much, as he didn’t crack the top four of Kentucky’s running back depth chart. Vanderbilt transfer Ray Davis will get the start, followed by seniors JuTahn McClain and Ramon Jefferson.
Then, there’s sophomore transfer Demie Sumo-Karngbaye who has impressed in camp and joins QB1 Devin Leary coming over from NC State — so, there’s a connection there. Plus, the staff raved about true freshman Jamarion Wilcox at the position when he committed to the team last recruiting cycle.
Meanwhile, the three defensive pieces are all somewhat notable losses, though none are considered stars among their position group. But rather, mostly rotation guys.
