Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops agreed to a contract extension with the Wildcats last month that will keep him with Kentucky through 2028. Part of Stoops’ extension was an increased salary pool for other coaches, which has led to a raise for his offensive and defensive coordinators.

According to 247 Sports’ Derek Terry, Kentucky signed offensive coordinator Liam Coen and defensive coordinator to new contracts, both of which include a raise.

According to Terry, White will make $1.4 million next season, while Coen will make $1.1 million. Both Coen and White will then have escalating salaries that will give them each a $100,000 raise per season.

Kentucky just earned a 20-17 victory over Iowa in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day. The win caps off an impressive 10-3 season for the Wildcats.

Kentucky president comments on Stoops extension

Stoops led Kentucky to a very impressive season this year. The Wildcats competed in the SEC and were ranked for a large portion of the season. With things headed in the right direction, a contract extension made a ton of sense for both Stoops and Kentucky. Especially due to the fact that Stoops’ name was at least mentioned as a target for some other prominent openings around the country.

“Our football and athletics programs have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to success for our students — on the field and in the classroom,” said UK President Eli Capilouto of the extension via KSR. “Our football program, under Coach Stoops, has only strengthened the commitment that we have as an institution to putting students first in everything that we do. We are preparing our students for lives of meaning and purpose when they leave UK, no matter what path they take.”

Kentucky opened the year with six consecutive victories before dropping its next three games. But the Wildcats ended the year on a strong note, winning the final four games of the season.
