NBA Academy Latin America center Fredrick King has requested his release from Louisville, according to a report from 247Sports.

King is the No. 96 overall prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 11 center.

According to the Industry Comparison, On3 is higher on King than the rest of the industry, tabbing him as the No. 70 prospect in the country.

The 6-foot-10, 220-pound King committed to the Cardinals in November over offers from Creighton, Washington State, Georgetown and Miami amongst others. However, with head coach Chris Mack departing and new coach Kenny Payne taking over, King has reopened his recruitment.

On3 National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw had this to say about King in January:

“King was a terror in this NPSI game, seemingly grabbing every rebounding and finishing everything around the basket. It was a stark difference from his day one performance and one that looked like he could end up an ACC difference-maker. King showcased rebounding prowess, on both ends, with good hands and an excellent motor to get the ball. On the offensive end, he had good hands, and he showed powerful dunks and footwork and touch.”

With his decommitment, King becomes the 15th player ranked among the top 115 nationally still uncommitted.
