Less than a week after appearing in the Big Ten Championship Game, Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm took the same position at Louisville, his alma mater. Brohm quickly went on the recruiting trail.

On Friday, he was in California to watch four Cardinals commits who play for Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco. Following the game, he caught with St. John Bosco quarterback Pierce Clarkson, who has been pledged to Louisville since Jan. 28.

Clarkson is the No. 244 overall prospect and No. 15 quarterback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 18 player in California.

During a 45-0 win in the CIF Open Division title game against San Mateo (Calif.) Serra, Clarkson connected with fellow Louisville commit and four-star wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. for a long touchdown. Four-star cornerback Aaron Williams, another Cardinals pledge, recorded a pick-six during the game. Three-star athlete Jahlil McClain is also a Louisville commit from St. John Bosco.

A 6-foot-0, 185-pound signal-caller, Clarkson has an On3 NIL Valuation of $164K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Pierce Clarkson On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Pierce Clarkson:

“Dual-threat quarterback who is competitive while playing in big games against top competition at the high school level. Plays for one of the top high school programs nationally at St. John Bosco in the Los Angeles area. Split time with Michigan State signee Katin Houser as a junior at St. John Bosco. Completed around 60 percent of his pass attempts for 1,416 yards and 16 touchdowns against three interceptions, while also rushing for four touchdowns. A good athlete who is capable of picking up chunk gains with his legs.

“Shows good quickness in eluding the pass rush and can make some plays when things break down. Has been well-coached as a passer. Lacks natural size at around 6-feet tall, 185 pounds. Can be erratic at times in the 7-on-7 setting. One of the older prospects in the 2023 cycle, turning 18 years-old during his junior season.
