On SEC This Morning, viewers who tuned in got treated to a special guest who only comes around every so often, Chuckles the Sad Clown. This is the name given to Chris Doering by his fellow co-host Peter Burns whenever he dresses up like a clown. But why was Doering dressed up like a party favor? Because he chose to bet against the LSU Tigers on Saturday when they took on the Florida Gators.

Tigers head coach Brian Kelly was front and center for the antics as he was a guest on the show on Monday. Later in the day, Kelly spoke about the experience and offered a suggestion to Doering after losing another LSU vs. Florida bet.

“I could see him yeah. I had no idea no; I didn’t know that he was going to dress like a clown. But I think if you keep betting, you get what you deserve there,” said Kelly. “Because I think he’s 0-4. In that situation, I think Pete should just up the ante, at this point. And make sure that there’s no dress that he comes out in next time. Then, there won’t be anymore betting.”

The Tigers knocked off the Gators for the fourth consecutive time behind a dominant performance from quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels was 23 of 32 on the night for 349 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions. But arguably, the best sign for LSU fans was their quarterback and star receiver finally showing some chemistry on the field. Kayshon Boutte was Daniels’ favorite target on the night, with six receptions for 115 yards.

Coach Kelly brings up a good idea with Burns upping the ante. But if he does that, Tigers’ fans will not get to enjoy seeing what anybody betting against them deserves, dressing like a clown.

Kelly shares status updates on LSU’s Jack Bech, Armoni Goodwin

Kelly has shared two key updates on the statuses of wide receiver Jack Bech and running back Armoni Goodwin heading into LSU‘s big matchup this weekend against No. 7 Ole Miss.

Bech, who was seen wearing street clothes on the Tigers’ sideline before the end of Saturday’s 45-35 victory over Florida. The sophomore muffed a punt in the first half, and wasn’t seen on the field again. Kelly said the injury was a back strain following the game, but gave a bit more context to the situation – as well as Goodwin’s – heading into Week 8.

“Jack [Bech] is day to day. Got the same back situation, which is an L5. It’s cranky,” Kelly said Wednesday. “Hopefully, we get him up and going. He’s a tough guy. Hopefully, we can get him loose enough where he can play.

“And Armoni [Goodwin], we’ll practice him on Tuesday and see what we can get. He wants to play. Our doctors have cleared him. We’ll see what kind of volume we can get out of him, and hopefully it goes well during the week.”

Goodwin’s hamstring has been bothering him since the New Mexico shutout on Sept. 24. Not having played the last two games, before last week, Goodwin was still the top running back on the team statistically having carried the ball 34 times for 199 yards and five touchdowns, though he’s now been passed by junior tailback Josh Williams.
