During his Thursday press conference, LSU head coach Matt McMahon provided an update on the status of his guard, Justice “Juice” Hill. The standout guard had to recently step away from the team due to “personal reasons”. That was eight days ago. The good news is he rejoined the Tigers’ basketball program on Thursday and will be in uniform on Saturday against Texas Tech.

“Yes, I would expect Justice Hill will be in uniform Saturday. He will rejoin the team. He’ll practice today. What the role is going forward will be determined, but he will be back with the team and practice this afternoon (Thursday),” McMahon said.

Hill’s season-high for the 2022-2023 season came against the Akron Zips, when he poured in 14 points, grabbed two rebounds, and dished out three assists. Hill has averaged 6.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game this season for LSU. He’s also been one of the best passers in college basketball during his career and has averaged over four assists per game. Before joining LSU, Hill played two years for the Murray State Racers.

Earlier in the season, Hill had a beautiful alley-oop to Trae Hannibal against the New Orleans Privateers.

At the time of Hill recently stepping away from the team, McMahon made sure to make it clear that the guard’s absence was not for disciplinary reasons. “I just want to be clear with Justice Hill, it is not disciplinary situation by any means. He has stepped away from the program for the time being for personal reasons…” McMahon said.

LSU currently sits at 12-8 overall on the 2022-2023 season. They’ll face the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday, Jan. 28. Tip-off for that one is set for 2:00 PM EST and the game will be televised by ESPNU.
