More reports continue to flow in on additions to the LSU Tigers coaching staff. Brian Kelly has been feverishly working at putting his staff together ever since jumping ship from Notre Dame to the bayous of Baton Rouge LA. Late on Friday night, word came in that Kelly has made two more hires on the offensive side of the ball.

According to Pete Thamel, sources close to the program expect the Tigers to hire Cincinnati Bearcats Mike Denbrock as the teams’ new offensive coordinator. With the Bearcats losing earlier in the day in their College Football Playoff semifinal to the Alabama Crimson Tide, the report of Denbrock’s potential departure came swift. Along with him, LSU plans to hire former Louisiana Tech offensive coordinator Joe Sloan as the Tigers’ new quarterbacks coach.

With this news, that makes three reported hires for the day for LSU football.

LSU running back to skip bowl, declares for draft

The LSU Tigers will be down another starter for their upcoming bowl game against Kansas State on Jan. 4. Running back Ty Davis-Price announced that not only would he miss the Tigers game against the Kansas State Wildcats, but he would be foregoing his senior season to enter the 2022 NFL draft.

Davis-Price made the announcement via Twitter, with this letter directed to Tiger nation.

The Tiger’s junior running back leads the team in rushing this season with 1,003 yards on the ground on 211 attempts. That is good enough for an average of 4.8 yards per carry and also rushed for six touchdowns.

He leaves LSU with the program’s record for most rushing yards in a single game. Davis-Price set that mark in a 49-42 win over the Florida Gators, midway through the season. He finished the game, with 287 yards rushing complemented by three rushing touchdowns on the day. That performance will cement him in Tiger lore for years to come.

Davis-Price will also leave LSU as a national champion as he was a contributor to their 2019 run as a freshman. That season he had 295 yards on 64 attempts and finished with six rushing touchdowns.
