Although LSU got a big win over Auburn last week, Malik Nabers had a rough day. He was a big part of the offense through the first few games, but was largely quiet in the Week 4 showdown.

He made his frustrations clear, too.

Nabers just two receptions for 26 yards as LSU came back to defeat Auburn and jump into the AP Top 25. Heading into the game, he had 20 catches for 266 yards and a touchdown, which is why his performance felt so quiet. He knows what he needs to work on, though, and said his frustration came from his inability to kickstart the offense.

“That’s why I was, really, a little frustrated at myself coming off the field. Not able to get a spark for the offense,” Nabers said. “I looked at myself as making a spark and putting that big role on myself to make plays on offense. When you’re not able to do that, it’s kind of hard, you know? Just coming off the field, three and out is not something positive that you want to do. It was nothing really about the throws.

“It was mainly about the route discipline, me just breaking my route too fast. Not breaking down easy enough. It was all something that we could all work on, mentally, especially.”

Nabers will try to get back on track this week when LSU takes on Tennessee Saturday at noon ET on ESPN.

Brian Kelly calls for wholesale improvement from LSU’s passing game

LSU was able to pull off a come-from-behind win over Auburn last week after being down early in the second quarter 17-0. LSU held Auburn scoreless for the remainder of the game, scoring 21 unanswered points in their victory. The win was a big one for the Tigers, as they remain undefeated in conference play and won their fourth consecutive game in a row, but the elephant in the room was LSU’s lack of production in the passing game, which head coach Brian Kelly was not afraid to address.

“I would continue to answer the question and I’m gonna be honest with you, everybody should be asking the same questions,” Kelly said.
