As a Recruit
Personal Life
Even though he could not play his senior year of high school football because of transfer waver being denied, Malik Nabers was the No. 7 overall recruit in Louisiana coming out of Youngsville Southside High School the 2020 recruiting class. In 2019, Nabers caught 58 passes for 1,223 yards and 21 touchdowns. He made an immediate impact during his freshman season at LSU, earning Freshman All-SEC honors. He ranked among LSU’s leaders in receptions (28), yards (417) and touchdowns (4), and he caught at least one pass in 10 of his 11 appearances. As a sophomore, he caught at least two passes in every game and finished the season with an SEC-leading 72 receptions for 1,017 yards and three scores. He was also named the 2023 Citrus Bowl MVP. “I have a lot of respect for Malik on a number of different levels," LSU offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock said. "But mostly because he comes to better his craft every single day. There’s not a time where he doesn’t have his complete attention on getting better at what he does on the practice field. People like that you just naturally kind of move toward. He is somebody that is a good example for us, especially the younger players in our program, to watch, to emulate on how to show up every day, how to put yourself in a position where you can improve at the skills necessary.”
