Head coach Brian Kelly is once again using the NCAA transfer portal to find a quarterback. LSU has landed a commitment from AJ Swann, previously being with the Vanderbilt Commodores, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Replacing Jayden Daniels will not be an easy task for the Tigers but Swann will be a part of the process. Garrett Nussmier is somebody Kelly has spoken highly of in the past as well, with the two potentially fighting it out for the 2024 starting quarterback role.

In just six games last season with Vanderbilt, Swann threw for 1,457 yards, 12 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. South Carolina was considered the other schools in on Swann following his entrance to the portal.

Mark it down as a victory for Kelly, going head-to-head against Shane Beamer.

Swann played high school football at Cherokee (GA), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 449 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
