Pickerington (Ohio) Pickerington Central four-star tight end Tayvion Galloway announced his decommitment from LSU on Sunday night. He was previously pledged to the Tigers since July 23.

Galloway is the No. 302 overall prospect and No. 17 tight end in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 9 player in Ohio.

“After reconsideration, I have decided to take a step back and de-commit from LSU,” Galloway wrote on Twitter. “My recruitment is now open. Please respect my decision and no interviews at this time.

While committed to LSU, Galloway went on unofficial visits to multiple programs. They included trips to Ole Miss (May 9), Miami (Jan. 21) and Ohio State (Sept. 24).

“I’ve always been interested in Miami and that’s always been my dream school,” Galloway told Izubee Charles of CaneSport on Jan. 20. “Growing up, I used to watch them all the time with my dad because that was his favorite team. Ever since they offered me, they’ve been pressing me to come to take a visit.”

“I feel like since I committed to LSU, Miami has been showing even more love,” he added.

Galloway also visited Miami on June 25, 2022. Florida is another Sunshine State school that has already offered the 6-foot-4, 218-pound recruit.

“I thought (the tight end play) was pretty good from what I’ve seen,” Galloway told Gators Online on Sept. 11. “I definitely think it’s a good spot for a tight end to go to. As of right now, I’m interested in Florida and interested in learning more about the program.”

Following Galloway’s decommitment, LSU’s 2024 recruiting class is No. 11 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 5 in the SEC. Head coach Brian Kelly and his staff have pledges from 15 players.

They include Jackson (La.) East Feliciana four-star tight end Trey’Dez Green, Bellaire (Texas) Shadow Creek four-star safety Maurice Williams, Denham Springs (La.) four-star safety Dashawn McBryde, Lafayette (La.) Lafayette Christian Academy four-star cornerback Ju’Juan Johnson, Destrehan (La.) four-star linebacker Kolaj Cobbins and Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy four-star quarterback Colin Hurley.

“The biggest reason I chose LSU is because it’s home and I’m a home body,” Green told On3’s Sam Spiegelman on April 26. “I love representing the people I love and care about. LSU just fits me because I’m a ‘Boot Boy’ from Louisiana. The end goal for me is to get a degree and play pro ball, whether it’s basketball or football.”
